Study permits for Germany are often granted for 3 - 6 months. During this time, students must travel to Germany and do the required coursework. Following that, they apply for a German residency visa, which is granted for the length of their study. The resident license may also be extended, based on circumstances.

Work Authorization For Students
Student Applicant:
In Germany, more than 60% of international students choose to work part-time jobs to help pay for their living expenses.
Studying in Germany can be paid for through scholarships, parental income, student loans, personal savings, and part-time employment.
The employment authorization for the student applicant is listed below:
- The student needs to be older than eighteen.
- In Germany, work permits for international students allow for up to 120 full days or 240 half days per year.

Can The Students Apply For a PR Visa Upon Graduation?
Let's say you have a student visa and want to continue living in Germany after finishing your education. If so, you will need to apply for a Niederlassungserlaubnis in Germany or a German permanent residency permit, also called a settlement permit.
You can travel within and outside of Germany while working there with a PR permit.
Those who have either the EU Blue Card or have maintained a temporary residence permit for several years are typically granted the Niederlassungserlaubnis. These people need to provide the following documentation to be granted a permanent residency permit:
- They've spent at least 5 years working in Germany.
- The Federal Employment Agency has approved their employment
- That they have cleared other contributions to the German government and paid the required taxes.
Furthermore, as the standards for German language competency are stricter for the permanent residence permit than for the student visa, knowledge of some advanced German language is also required at this point.
Your spouse and kids can move to Germany with you once you acquire a permanent residency visa. Initially, a temporary residency permit will be issued to them. Your family may also be eligible for a permanent residency permit after a few years.
