In January 2021, the UK government announced that a points-based immigration system would be implemented. The following are the key components of the points-based migration:

• Candidates for immigration from both EU and non-EU countries will receive the same treatment.
• The points-based system must be followed by highly skilled workers, skilled workers, and students wishing to enter the UK.
• For skilled workers, a job offer is required.
• The salary criteria have been lowered from 30,000 pounds to 26,000 pounds annually.
• Candidates must demonstrate their English language proficiency (A-level or equivalent).
• Highly qualified individuals do not require a job offer; instead, they only need to be approved by a UK organization.
• To study in the UK, students will also be subject to a points-based system and will need to demonstrate their financial resources, English language proficiency, and an admission letter from an educational institution.
• The minimum score needed to be eligible for a visa is 70 points.

An offer of employment and fluency in English will get the candidate fifty points. The following qualifications can be used to earn the extra 20 points needed to be eligible for the visa:

• Getting an offer of employment that earns at least 26,000 pounds a year will grant you 20 points.
• An offer of a position in an area with a skills shortage earns 20 points.
• A Ph.D. in a STEM field earns 20 points, whereas a comparable Ph.D. earns 10 points.
