Depending on their skill sets, educational backgrounds, and job experience, businesspeople and skilled professionals may be able to relocate to Australia. The general skilled migration self-assessment test allows a person to determine how likely they are to be granted permanent residency in Australia.

If a person is under 50, speaks English well, and has sufficient work experience in the profession they have chosen—an employment that must be on the nation's SOL (Skilled employment List)—they will score highly.

Australian

Immigration candidates can obtain the necessary Australian migration points under the Australian immigration point system. These points are granted to a candidate if they satisfy the following standards:

• Age: Candidates may receive points below the age limit if they are between the ages of 18 and 44.
• English language: The test results of any accredited English language proficiency test should be submitted by the candidate to demonstrate his proficiency in the language.
• Points for overseas experience (travel outside of Australia): If the candidate has worked abroad for three, five, or eight years in the designated field within the previous ten years, they are eligible to receive points.
• The Australian Experience:

1. Points may be awarded to the candidate if they have full-time job experience in any of the occupations included on the SOL while working in Australia.
2. If the candidate has one, three, five, or eight years of Australian experience in the nominated field during the last ten years, they are eligible to receive points.

• Points for overseas qualifications (acquired outside of Australia): Applicants may claim points for degrees at the bachelor's, master's, or doctoral levels that are recognized.
• Australian Study: If the applicant completes a course in Australia for two academic years or longer, they will be eligible to get bonus points.
• Live and Study in a Regional Area: The applicant can claim additional points if he has met the Australian study requirement of living and studying in a ‘regional low population growth metropolitan area’ for at least 2 years.
• Spouse Skills: If the spouse meets the minimum standards in terms of age, English language proficiency, qualifications, and skills assessment results, the applicant may claim points under this category.

Candidates would be deemed eligible by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), which is in charge of immigration, if they received at least 65 points.

English proficiency: You can receive up to 20 points on the IELTS exam if you receive an 8 band score. Education: Depending on the educational qualification, points are awarded based on the education requirements. A PhD from an Australian university or, if recognized by the Australian government, from a university outside of Australia, will receive the most points.
